UNDP supports cooperation between local government and communities, admits successful partnership results in Novohrad-Volynskiy

Novohrad-Volynskiy, 23 August: Over three years after joining partnership with UN Development Porgramme, the municipality’s 19 communities were supported in carrying out their local sustainable development projects amounting to 2.8 mn. Hryvnias, while about 30,000 people have benefited from these community-based initiatives, according to UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Ukraine Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecka.

Kyiv, 22 August: Francis O’Donnell, UN System Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine met students-volunteers of the University of Oxford (UK) who arrived to Ukraine in line with Oxford Volunteers for Chornobyl Scheme. The goal of their visit was to support the development of youth communities at the affected areas.

Kyiv, 5 August: The UN Development Programme in Ukraine and the Global Environment Facility have launched a new project “Strengthening governance and financial sustainability of the national protected area system in Ukraine”. This was announced at the inception workshop.

Ivano-Frankivsk, Dolyna, 24-25 July: A UNDP-led project has organized an exposure visit attracting 24 City Mayors and decision-makers of local self-government bodies from Eastern/Southern parts of Ukraine to share successful models and mechanisms of human development, experience on wide involvement of the communities into local decision-making process and improving local public service delivery.

Rivne, 23 July: UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecka together with the representatives of Rivne municipality has participated in the opening ceremony of Boiler plant for Rivne Humanitarian Gymnasia. The boiler was constructed with financial support from UNDP within a full-scale energy efficiency project, implemented in Rivne since 2003.
