Understanding that raising public awareness on Millennium Development Goals and national development will favour and stimulate greater impact, and ensure support by Ukrainian citizens for Ukraine's development agenda, UNDP initiated a UN-led public information campaign ion MDGs in 2007-2008. This Campaign will help organisers pursue long-term national development strategies by making sure that all Ukrainians appreciate the Goals' priorities, and the urgency for more effective action.
Within the Campaign's implementation, UN House in Ukraine produced a 30-sec-long video public-service announcement (PSA) "Ukraine's MDGs". The script has been developed pro bono by TABASCO Ukraine Creative Agency jointly with UNDP. The video production works were performed by "Converging Worlds" video production studio.
The PSA features the country's MDGs and presents them as one of priority directions within the overall human development field as outlined by the Ukrainian Government till 2015.
According to the ruling by the National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting, the PSA was recognised as having a 'social advertising' status. With support from the State Committee for Radio and Television Broadcasting of Ukraine this video PSA was shown on 27 regional TV Channels across Ukraine, while five nationwide TV Channels volunteered to rotate our video clip during October-December [2008] period, including "Channel 5", "TET", "Noviy", "UTR" and "Kultura".
